International Women’s Day

Friday, Mar 6, 2026

12:00pm – 4:00pm

This year’s IWD theme is ‘Balance the Scales” and highlights the need for a fairer, more inclusive justice system addressing discrimination in laws, policies and practices.

The lunch will raise money for the wonderful theatre company Somebody’s Daughter

We are very fortunate that they are able to showcase some of the work they do in the women’s prison. It is often hilarious and always very heart felt. Their annual show is a highlight of my calendar!
The performers all have lived experience of the justice system and while we won’t publicise it Corrections has agreed to allow a couple of women day release from Dame Phylis Frost for the Kelvin event.

The plan for the day is:

  • Welcome and short opening remarks by Justice Michelle Quigley (5-10 mins)
  • Performance by Somebody’s Daughter followed by a short panel discussion with the performers.
  • Closing remarks by Fleur Ward- a passionate barrister who has worked for decades in the children’s court often trying to keep children with their parents (5-10 mins)

We are donating $10 from each lunch ticket and there will be a raffle to raise much needed fund for Somebody’s Daughter. They find it very difficult to score govt funding.

There will be a tasting from Great Ocean Road Gin, a delectable 2 course meal, main and of course, dessert !

A glass of fizz on arrival and complimentary wines supplied by Skillogalee, Clare Valley.

$95 members, $105 non-members with $10 per ticket going to our charity ‘Somebody’s Daughter’.

An auction, raffles, a long lunch, kisses and kindness…
