Raclette is a traditional French/Swiss shepherds’ meal of gruyere-style cheese, grilled and melted over potatoes, ham and cornichons. The perfect pairings for this rich combination are crisp, aromatic whites and juicy, fragrant reds – chasselas from Switzerland, mondeuse from Savoie, savagnin from Jura* – or you could bring a great local alternative like a Macedon Ranges riesling, Beechworth gamay, or King Valley pinot blanc – think cool-climate, higher-altitude wines that you’d want to share with others on a warm Spring day.
With Max Allen bringing his corkscrew and James Hewison bringing his Raclette grill, this promises to be a Bottle Club to remember. Places are limited, so book early.
Cost for Raclette is $35, plus corkage fee of $20 per bottle
